Promised Peace for Troubled Hearts

Have you ever felt abandoned? Left alone to suffer in silence? Jesus prepares his followers for His departure, but He promises not to leave us as spiritual orphans. He promises to come to us and send the Spirit into our hearts so that we always experience His abiding presence and promised peace. In John 14:27, Jesus says: “Peace I leave with you.”

“When Christ was about to leave the world he made his will.

His soul he committed to his Father;

his body he bequeathed to Joseph, to be decently interred;

his clothes fell to the soldiers;

his mother he left to the care of John:

but what should he leave to his poor disciples that had left all for him?

Silver and gold he had none. But he left them that which was infinitely better, his peace.”

I hope today that you experience in deeper ways our Lord’s peace which He has made by the blood of His cross!
