Ascending with Open Hands

Luke 24:50–53

Jesus departed from His disciples in a striking way—while blessing them. This was no accident. It reminded them of why He came and what He would continue to do. He came not to curse but to bless, not in anger but in love, not as a condemning Judge but as a gracious Friend. As He lived, so He left—pouring out blessing.

The same Christ who blessed His disciples on earth blesses His people still from heaven. His heart has not changed. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Heb. 13:8)—tender, patient, compassionate, and abounding in grace. All blessing flows to us through Him alone. Take Christ away, and there is no blessing left to receive.

It is deeply fitting that His ascension occurred near Bethany, the home of those He loved—Mary, Martha, and Lazarus. The ascended Christ remains gracious, and His hands are still raised in blessing.

All spiritual blessings come to us through Jesus Christ (Eph. 1:3). He alone is the mediator between heaven and earth (John 1:51; 1 Timothy 2:4-5).

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, You left this world with hands raised in blessing. Help me to trust that Your heart toward me has not changed. Teach me to live today resting in Your grace, and to receive every good gift as coming from You. Amen.
