The Future Christ Already Knows

John 21:18–25

Jesus foretold Peter’s future—even the manner of his death. Nothing about Peter’s life or suffering lay outside Christ’s knowledge. The timing, pain, and cost were all foreseen by a wise and loving Lord.

This truth is not meant to terrify believers but to comfort them. If we knew the future apart from Christ, it would crush us. But to know that our entire life—every joy and sorrow—is known and governed by Him is a deep consolation. There is no luck, chance, or accident in the Christian life. All is ordered by One who is too wise to err and too loving to harm His people. What is hidden from us is fully known to our sovereign God.

In days of darkness, this truth steadies the soul: Christ knew this when He called me. We need not murmur or rebel. Even bitter cups come from a Father’s hand. Blessed are those who trust God, even when His ways are hard.

Prayer:

Sovereign Lord, my future is hidden from me but known to You. Give me grace to trust Your wisdom and Your love, especially when the path is hard. Help me to follow You faithfully wherever You lead. Amen.
