Faithful with What He’s Entrusted

Matthew 25:14–30

In Jesus’ parable of the talents, vigilance gives way to diligence. The story calls not only for watchfulness as we wait for Christ’s return but also for faithfulness as we work while we wait.

Every follower of Christ has received something from God — not just those with remarkable gifts or visible influence. A “talent” isn’t merely a special ability; it’s anything God has entrusted to us for His glory. Your time, health, relationships, knowledge, opportunities, money, and even your hardships — all are sacred loans from a generous Master.

The question is not how much we’ve been given, but what we’re doing with it. Some, like the servant who buried his talent, waste the opportunities God provides. Neglecting prayer, ignoring His Word, living for comfort or pleasure — all of these are ways we hide what God has entrusted to us.

But faithful servants see everything as belonging to Him. They pour out their lives with gratitude, preparing for the most exhilarating moment of their lives when they hear these words: “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Let this truth shape your heart today: You are not an owner but a steward. Everything you have is from God and for God. Use it well, and you’ll find joy not only in serving but in knowing the Master Himself.

Prayer:

Lord, all that I have is Yours. Teach me to use my time, gifts, and opportunities to honor You. Keep me from burying what You’ve entrusted to me. May I serve with faithfulness and joy until You return. Amen.
