Our Unfading Inheritance

Israel stood on the edge of the Promised Land, preparing to receive an inheritance that God had faithfully promised generations before. Each tribe would receive its portion by God’s sovereign hand (Numbers 26). Yet even that glorious inheritance pointed to something greater.

In Christ, we have received an inheritance that no earthly possession can rival. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus has made us sons and daughters of God, forgiven our sins, filled us with His Spirit, and secured for us “an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading” (1 Peter 1:4). Our greatest inheritance is not a piece of land—it is Christ Himself.

Because our inheritance is secured by Christ’s finished work rather than our imperfect obedience, it can never be lost, diminished, or stolen. Every promise of God finds its “Yes” in Him.

So hold loosely to the treasures of this world and firmly to the Savior who purchased your eternal inheritance. The best is not behind you or even ahead of you—it is found in Jesus, who is both your inheritance today and your everlasting joy forever.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the unfading inheritance You have secured for us through Your Son. Keep our hearts fixed on Christ rather than the passing treasures of this world. Help us to live each day with the confidence, hope, and joy that come from knowing we belong to You and that our eternal inheritance is safe in Your hands. May our lives reflect our gratitude until the day we see our Savior face to face. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
