Known, Exposed, and Cleansed

In Leviticus 13, God appointed priests to examine the people and declare whether they were clean or unclean. The priest could identify the problem, but he could not cure it.

What a contrast we find in Jesus.

God has not left us to diagnose our own spiritual condition. He graciously gives us His Holy Spirit, His Word, and the fellowship of His church to help us see ourselves rightly.

The Spirit convicts us of sin, the Scriptures expose the true condition of our hearts, and faithful believers help us recognize blind spots we might otherwise miss.

Yet the greatest encouragement is this: Jesus does more than reveal our need—He meets it.

Our Lord is the Great High Priest who not only identifies our uncleanness but also removes it.

He does not merely pronounce a verdict; He provides the cure.

Through His perfect life, atoning death, and victorious resurrection, He cleanses sinners and brings them near to God.

Therefore, we need not fear God’s searching gaze. The One who examines us is the One who loves us. The One who exposes our sin is the One who died for it. The One who reveals our need is the One who supplies abundant grace.

So pray with confidence:

“Search me, O God, and know my heart” (Psalm 139:23).

And rest in this glorious truth: when Christ reveals your sin, it is never to condemn you, but to draw you closer to Himself, cleanse you more deeply, and conform you more fully to His image.

Because Jesus is both our Priest and our Savior, we can welcome His examination and rejoice in His cleansing grace.
