“The life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” — Galatians 2:20

The Christian life begins and continues the same way: By faith in Jesus Christ. We are not justified by our performance, sustained by our discipline, or accepted because of our obedience. We are made right with God solely through faith in the crucified and risen Savior.

By faith, we are united to Christ. His death becomes our death to sin, and His resurrection becomes our new life. Christ now lives in us by His Spirit, enabling us to walk in joyful obedience—not to earn God’s favor, but because we already have it in Him.

Every day, we face the temptation to trust ourselves: our efforts, our accomplishments, or our morality. But the gospel calls us to a better way—to rest in the One who “loved me and gave himself for me.” Our confidence is not in what we do for Christ but in what Christ has done for us.

Today, preach the gospel to yourself. Lay aside self-reliance, fix your eyes on Jesus, and live by faith. The Savior who gave Himself for you is sufficient for every step you take.
