“The life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” — Galatians 2:20

The Christian life is not lived on autopilot. Nor is it sustained by willpower, religious performance, or good intentions. It is lived by faith—moment by moment, day by day, in continual dependence upon Jesus Christ.

That dependence is often where we struggle most. We long to be accepted because of what we accomplish. We measure ourselves by our victories and despair over our failures. We fear people more than God. We rely on our own wisdom instead of Christ’s strength. Yet every form of self-reliance quietly competes with the gospel.

Paul reminds us that faith looks away from self and fixes its eyes on Christ. It stands courageously for the truth of the gospel, even when compromise would be easier. It rests in Christ’s perfect righteousness instead of striving to establish its own. It dies daily to pride and self-sufficiency, trusting that the risen Christ now lives within every believer. And it serves God—not to earn His love, but because it has already been overwhelmed by it.

Before your feet hit the floor each morning, preach these gospel truths to your heart:

• I am accepted because of Christ, not because of my performance.
• Christ lives in me and will supply every grace I need today.
• I will trust His promises more than my feelings or circumstances.
• I will obey Him because He loves me—not to make Him love me.

This is the freedom Christ purchased with His blood. You no longer have to prove yourself before God. Jesus already has. The One who loved you and gave Himself for you now lives in you, empowering you to live for Him.

So today, stop striving to earn what Christ has already secured. Look away from yourself. Look to Jesus. Trust Him. Treasure Him. Follow Him. For the life of faith is nothing less than the daily joy of depending on the Savior who is both your righteousness and your strength.

Prayer:
Gracious Father, thank You that we have been justified by faith in Your Son and not by works of the law. Forgive us for trusting in our own performance, fearing the opinions of others, and attempting to accomplish in the flesh what can only be produced by Your Spirit. Fix our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith. Teach us to boast only in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.

By Your Spirit, help us to be crucified with Christ so that it is no longer we who live, but Christ who lives in us. Strengthen us to walk by faith and not by sight, to abide in Christ and bear much fruit, to stand firm in the truth of the gospel, and to do everything in the strength that You supply, so that in everything Jesus Christ might be glorified. Let the love of Christ control us, Your Word dwell in us richly, and the peace of Christ rule in our hearts. Keep us faithful until the day we see our Savior face to face, for we ask it in the strong and precious name of Jesus Christ, who loved us and gave Himself for us. Amen.
