There’s a moment in every hard season when you run out of options. Sarah had run out of years. Israel had run out of road, water on one side, army on the other. Ezekiel stood in a valley of bones so dry they’d forgotten they were ever alive. And Jesus’s own followers stood outside a sealed tomb having run out of hope.

Here’s the good news buried in every one of those stories: God doesn’t specialize in helping you find your last option. He specializes in showing up after your last option is gone.

That’s not incidental to the Bible’s story — it’s the whole point. God let Abraham and Sarah’s bodies fail before He gave them Isaac. He let the sea trap Israel before He split it. He let Jesus die — really die, three days dead — before He raised Him. Every single time, God waited until the situation was unmistakably beyond human fixing. Not because He enjoys delay, but because that’s the only way the outcome could be unmistakably His.

So if you’re in a place right now where you’ve prayed, tried, planned, and still hit a wall — take heart. You’re not off God’s map. You are exactly where every person He’s ever rescued has stood: at the edge of your own inability, which is where His ability begins.

Paul put words to this pattern when he described God as the One “who gives life to the dead and calls into being that which does not exist” (Romans 4:17). That’s not poetic exaggeration. That’s a description of how God works. Dead wombs. Dead-end seas. Dead bones. Dead Savior. Life, every time, on the other side.

The cross and empty tomb are where this pattern reaches its climax — and its guarantee. If God can bring life to a crucified and buried Christ, then no situation you’re facing is too far gone for Him. Your impossible is His specialty.

“Is anything too hard for the Lord?” (Genesis 18:14)
