In the beginning, the devil attempted to ensnare humans by sowing the seeds of doubt and distrust in the truthfulness of God‘s word. He has not stopped using this as one of his fundamental strategies in temptation.
The lie of the viper still resides in all of our hearts because, no matter how long we have been a believer, we too struggle at times to believe that God is good and that His word is true and trustworthy.
How assuring to know that every single word of God is true, and, that for those who doubt and struggle to believe it, even to them it will eventually be proven true.
The chief purpose of the true Word of God is to lead us to take refuge in the living Word. He is the rock of refuge who shields us from the curse, the weight, the guilt, the shame and the consequence of sin.
Also, how grateful we should be to know that God himself in Jesus shields us from his own perfect, unending justice and undiluted wrath on sin. Why? Because Jesus exhausted it on the cross so that we might enjoy the unending favor and presence of our Heavenly Father.
Why not take a moment and pray the simple prayer: “Lord, I believe. Help my unbelief?”
